2021 Fall Recital Details (Virtual and Live In-Person)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND IN IT'S ENTIRETY!!!

FINALLY!!! After nearly two years of pandemic life, virtual lessons and recitals, we are finally able to come together for live in-person recitals! Isn't that exciting? I can hardly wait!

There are many lessons that we learned during pandemic life. Among the many is flexibility and that there is room for both in-person and virtual options for lessons and recitals. I am very happy to be able to offer virtual recitals for those that aren't quite ready for a live in-person recital, live in a different location, or just prefer the flexibility that virtual recitals offer such as working around schedule conflicts and the ability to invite friends and family that aren't local. Same goes for lessons. It doesn't need to be one size fits all!

Below are the details for both live in-person recitals as well as our virtual recital.

Programs:

Programs for all recitals (virtual, set 1 and set 2) will be available to download from www.GriffinViolinStudio.com on Friday, October 22nd. Please download prior to recital. Printed copies will not be available.

Please arrive AT THE DOOR fifteen minutes before your set begins and find your seats immediately. Make sure that performers have their violins tuned, bows rosined, and music with them. As soon as you are seated have your student remove their violin from their case and be ready to walk up on stage when they are called. Please stay for the entire recital so that all performers have an audience. If you require assistance with tuning please see me at least 10 minutes before we start. We will begin promptly at the designated start time and I will not be able to help once we start.

Masks are required for everyone above the age of two (no exceptions). Please adhere to this for everyone's safety and comfort. Also, please be mindful of social distancing as you enter, seat yourself and as you exit. Performers will be allowed to remove their masks while they are performing. I will also remove my mask as I am speaking.

There will be a break in time between the sets to allow for a safe transition. Everyone in Set 1 will be asked to leave the premises immediately at the end of the recital. Everyone in Set 2 should not arrive at the door before 5:30 pm. Please make sure that you wait for all attendees in Set 1 to exit before entering.

Hopefully the next time we gather for an in-person recital we will be in a much better situation regarding the pandemic and less restrictions.

Always with Joy and Gratitude!

COVID-19 Vaccine Status and 2021 Spring Recital Report

I hope that you were all able to watch the 2021 Spring Recital. I was so pleased with the recital outcome and see that statistics show that many of you have viewed the entire recital. I will be asking my students what they liked about the performances and what they learned from watching other students play their pieces. Watching other performances is an important part of the learning experience. The video links are still up on my website and can be found in the video section. If you have not been able to watch the recital; I encourage you to do so this week with your student. I would like to extend a special thank you to all the students that participated and families that faithfully watched the performances! I am hoping that I will be able to schedule a live recital event in the Fall with the option of streaming videos for those that are online only and still don't feel able to participate in live performances. I will keep you posted.

I also wanted to let you know that I received my 2nd COVID-19 vaccine last week. Effective May 13th I will be considered fully vaccinated and past the 2-week post vaccine period. I am following all the safety guidelines here at my studio including mask-wearing, hepa air filter with UV light, social distancing and frequent cleaning and continue to stay safe while outside of the studio. Only one student and parent will be admitted in the studio at a time and the stand and other high touch point surfaces are sanitized in between and after all in-person lessons. It is very safe here.

Currently, I have about 8 students that are coming in for in-person lessons. Some have requested a hybrid schedule with some in-person and some online. The majority have expressed wanting to stay online and are enjoying the convenience of online lessons. Some families live in different locations and online is the only option. All mentioned options are available to all my students. I just ask that you communicate with me if anything changes from our current scheduling agreement. Because of my packed schedule, I will not be able to schedule any student in-home lessons or visits. If you are fully online and are in need of maintenance, tuning, string changes, etc. you are welcome to schedule a time to drop by the studio to see me.

Stay well, and please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss scheduling options.

Always with joy and gratitude,

Important Dates & Info: Recital Video Deadline; Spring Break; Recital Date/Time

Just a quick reminder that the videos for the 2021 Spring Recital are due on April 18th (upload link below)This allows me the time I need to edit the videos and put the recital program together so please do your best to submit videos on or before the deadline. A lot of work goes into preparing these recital videos and it takes time. Early submissions are welcome and appreciated. Since this is a "Spring Recital" wear Spring colors if you can. Hopefully by the summer we can resume in-person recitals or at least some type of hybrid recital. (Side note ... I received my first dose of the COVID vaccine yesterday and am feeling great!)

Please upload your videos to this link: https://www.dropbox.com/request/d5aYGrEE0yhTsSfJL8Xk

The 2021 Spring Recital is scheduled for 6pm PST on May 1st. For this recital I will be posting the link to my website (www.GriffinViolinStudio.com) instead of Facebook which I have done for previous virtual recitals. It has been fun doing the video premieres on Facebook. However, I had one of my videos flagged by Facebook saying there was a possible copyright infringement (which there wasn't). I don't want to take the chance of that happening for this recital, which is why I decided to post the video on my Vimeo account and add the link directly to my website to prevent any hiccups.

Griffin Violin Studio will be observing Spring Break from April 12 through April 17, 2021The studio will be closed, and no classes will be held during this time. Normal class schedule will resume on Monday, April 19th.

THANK YOU for your continued support! I appreciate my parents and students so very much. Let me know if you have any questions.

Always with joy and gratitude!

Ms. Jill

Spring Schedule (Studio Break, Spring Recital, New Studio Space)

It's hard to believe that we are a year into this pandemic. I am grateful that we have been able to continue our violin studies and events virtually; but am looking forward to more in-person lessons and events. I am settled into my new studio space in Rancho Bernardo and love my new place. I have a few students coming in regularly for in-person lessons and it is going very well. We follow all safety precautions including hand washing, mask wearing, and social distancing and it is very clean and safe here. I also run a Hepa filter with UV to maintain healthy air quality. If you are interested in coming for in person lessons, please let me know. Many of you are enjoying the convenience of Zoom lessons and I am happy to continue with Zoom lessons as long as you like. This new space allows me to offer both, comfortably. Also, please know that I plan on getting the vaccine as soon as it is available to me.

I also wanted to let you know that Griffin Violin Studio will be taking a spring break from April 12-17. The studio will be closed during that week. Please mark your calendar.

Also mark your calendar for our 2021 Virtual Spring Recital on May 1st. Hopefully by this summer we will be able to have in-person events; but until I am certain that is possible, I will be planning virtual events. I have been speaking to my students during our lessons about the event and am working with them on their music selections. I will be asking for video submissions by April 18th.

Have a wonderful day. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Always with joy and gratitude,

Ms. Jill

One year ago today ... and looking forward ...

One year ago today was our last live in-person student recital. (see photo below). It was spectacular. I had no idea then that just one month after the recital everything would change. Since then, we have had two virtual student recitals; and this weekend our very first virtual ensemble recital will premiere at https://www.facebook.com/griffinviolinstudio.

COVID has not stopped Griffin Violin Studio from moving forward. We are still going strong ... actually, we are even stronger. My student base has grown in the pandemic with a record number of students. I have launched new programs. I have a new studio. And a lot of wonderful new things will be unfolding.

Some students are beginning to return to in-person lessons, and some are opting for a hybrid model with mostly online and some in-person. Please let me know if you would like to discuss which option is best for you and your student.

I look forward to the day when I can hold my next live in-person event. In the meantime, I am planning our next virtual recital for May 1st. More information will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date.

With joy and gratitude,

Ms. Jill
